Tribute approved for Ground Zero

20/07/2008 12:00:01 AM

SEPTEMBER 11 victims' families will be able to mourn their loved ones at the World Trade Centre site again on the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

New York City officials previously said last year would be the last time families could pay their respects at Ground Zero because of construction.

But they and the site's owner confirmed that the families would be allowed to descend to the base of the World Trade Centre towers this September 11 as well.

As it was last year, the anniversary ceremony will be held in a park just south-east of Ground Zero. More than 2700 victims' names are read aloud during the event.
